Diablo III

Ok, Diablo III is the first game in a long time that I’m actually looking forward to. There’s just something about the Diablo franchise that makes me want to waste hundreds of hours pointing and clicking on stuff.

George Carlin Passes Away

George Carlin passed away. I was never a huge fan of his, but I did appreciate his humor and the way he was willing to make fun of just about anything. For anyone who’s never seen it here’s his famous Seven Words You Can’t Say on TV bit.

I Could Have Been a Scientist

This article from the New York Times on the nature of Dark Matter and why its pissing off scientists makes me wonder why I wasted my time with a liberal arts degree. I could have been doing really important work. Sigh.

Obligatory Oscar Post

So the oscars are playing tonight and there were a couple of films mentioned that I wanted to recommend to everyone. First up is Juno, a great comedy and not a surprise for anyone, I’m sure. Second up is a little more obscure, a movie called Once. This movie was described by its director as a “visual album” and it’s a very apt description. If you like good music and are something of a sap you’ll love this movie. If you haven’t seen either of these movies yet, check them out.

P.S. As I’m writing this Once won the Oscar for best original song in a movie, it’s well deserved. Juno also has great music, so after you see the movies go out and buy the soundtracks for both these films as well.

Wellspring Spa near Mt. Rainier

So back when Dara and I got hitched our friends Kristen and Brook gave us a very nice gift, a certificate for a stay at the Wellspring Spa out near Mt. Rainier National Park. Now our first visit to the place was something of a disaster. Not because of Wellspring but because the day we went out was one of the worst wind storms Western Washington had seen in a long time.

Quick hits

So work’s crazy right now and I basically haven’t had a moment to myself for a week and don’t expect that to change anytime soon, but since I do want to keep this blog updated on a fairly regular basis here are some quick hits.
